Introduction:

Please join the Greater Phoenix Orienteering Club on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the First Water event site just north of Apache Junction for a three-hour Score-O. Enjoy springtime in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains and explore some of the most beautiful scenery in the Phoenix area. The terrain is hilly and somewhat rugged with some loose rocks and sporadic cactus.

The three hour Score-O will have ~25 controls scattered throughout the area. Registration begins at 7:30 and runs until 10:00. The course opens at 8:00. There is a 3-hour time limit for the Score-O and a 10 point penalty for every minute over the limit (all times rounded up to the next minute).

A free beginner's clinic will be held at 8:00 to go over compass skills and map reading basics. It's really worth the time to attend the clinic. (You can also join us Saturday morning, February 11, for a dedicated beginner's clinic at the Mesquite Library in Phoenix. [image:O flag] Mesquite Library Event Details )

NOTE: All Score-O participants must return from the course and check-in with the timer's table by 1:15pm. Anyone returning after 1:15pm will be marked as DNF ("Did Not Finish").
