Bomboy Mine
|
On Sunday, January 28th, we are presenting a 2-hour Score-O at our Bomboy Mine event site approximately 30 miles east of Apache Junction, near the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. The site is nestled in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains and contains a good deal of rugged terrain and desert vegetation. We hope you'll consider joining us for a day of navigation fun.
The terrain at the Bomboy Mine event site is mildly rugged with rolling hills and rock outcroppings, dry washes, and a variety of high-desert vegetation. There are very few areas of dense cactus or catclaw, so we recommend you wear pants or other leg covering. The visibility on most of the map is good. Water is available at the timer's table and at one or two places on the course. While water is available on the course, you should also consider bringing your own water bottle or camelback.
People of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. If you're new to the sport, we'd be happy to give you some pointers before you begin. You may start the Score-O anytime after the course opens at 9:00 am until 11:00 am. To get the full 2 hours on the course, you must start no later than 11:00 am. Everyone, competitors and recreational participants alike, must be off the course and checked into the timer's table by 1:00 pm when the course closes. |

In order to promote pre-registration for our events, the Club has implemented a new pricing structure. Participants who pre-register for the event will benefit from our priority pricing. While on-site registration is still available, pricing for on-site registration is more expensive. In addition, we'll print some extra maps for each of our events, but we cannot guarantee a map for those who do not pre-register.
