Please consider joining us on Saturday, December 10, as we present two Score-O courses starting from the Picketpost Trailhead just west of Superior, AZ. Participants in our Score-O will travel on foot to find as many destination markers as they can in either 1.5 or 3.0 hours. December temperatures in Phoenix are a little chilly but quite nice compared to other parts of the country. You can expect high temperatures in the 60's to low 70's. The event site at the trailhead provides an impressive view of Picketpost Mountain. Rocky cliffs and lush desert vegetation extend down from the mountain to the trailhead. Some of the terrain is impassable as rocks and prickly cactus (like cholla!) get in your way. While the terrain is rugged, we know you'll enjoy some navigation fun in one of the prettier places surrounding the Phoenix metro area. |
Due to changes in our permitting, pre-registration is required for this event. We do not plan to print extra maps, so please make sure you pre-register.
Pre-Registration is open until Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 11:59 PM. |
Parental Consent Now Required (Click here for more information) All participants under age 18 are now required to have a signed parental consent form on file with the club. You can complete the form before the event and either scan it and send it to us by e-mail or bring it with you to the event. |
This year's permit with Tonto National Forest does not allow us to charge an explicit registration fee for the Picketpost Trailhead events. However, we still have costs associated with the events, including printing costs, per-participant insurance costs, etc. The pre-registration pages include options for donating to the club. Please consider donating when you sign up to participate in one of our Picketpost Trailhead events. |
Details of our Score-O events are found here. |

There are some options for dispersed camping in the area surrounding the trailhead. You can find more information at Tonto National Forest websites. |
