Mormon Lake

The Mormon Lake event site is located in the pine forest just west of the Mormon Lake Lodge. The start/finish is located next to the pond just east of the Mormon Lake Lodge.

There are several ways to get to Mormon Lake from Phoenix. The way you take depends on where you live and your desire to avoid gravel roads.

• From I-17/Loop 101 via Stoneman Lake Road (107 miles paved, 8 miles gravel, 1 hour 56 minutes):
  • From the I-17/Loop 101 interchange in North Phoenix, travel north on Interstate 17 approximately 91 miles to the Stoneman Lake Road exit 306.
  • Travel east on the paved Stoneman Lake Road for 6 miles until the pavement ends.
  • Shortly after the road turns to gravel, turn left (north) at the T-intersection. Continue on the gravel road for 8 miles as it winds past Stoneman Lake and continues to Lake Mary Road (Forest Road 3).
  • Turn left (north) and travel 7.8 miles on Lake Mary Road to Mormon Lake Road.
  • Turn left (west) on Mormon Lake Road and travel 2 miles to the Mormon Lake Lodge. The event start/finish is located next to the pond just east of the lodge.


• From I-17/Loop 101 via Highway 260 (145 miles paved, 2 hours 17 minutes):
  • From the I-17/Loop 101 interchange in North Phoenix, travel north on Interstate 17 approximately 70 miles to the General Crook Trail (AZ 260) exit 285.
  • Turn east on AZ 260 and travel 34 miles to AZ 87.
  • Travel east on AZ 87 12 miles to Lake Mary Road (FS-3)
  • Turn left (north) and travel 27 miles on Lake Mary Road to Mormon Lake Road.
  • Turn left (west) on Mormon Lake Road and travel 2 miles to the Mormon Lake Lodge. The event start/finish is located next to the pond just east of the lodge.


• From Fountain Hills (128 miles paved, 2 hours 14 minutes):
  • From the Shea Boulevard/AZ 87 intersection, travel north on AZ 87 approximately 98 miles to the Lake Mary Road.
  • Turn left (north) and travel 27 miles on Lake Mary Road to Mormon Lake Road.
  • Turn left (west) on Mormon Lake Road and travel 2 miles to the Mormon Lake Lodge. The event start/finish is located next to the pond just east of the lodge.
