For the Saguaro Lake event we threw in a Night-O for the Saturday evening
before the Score-O. It turned out to be a chilly and dark night (the quarter
moon was M.I.A.). The lack of a moon and faded trails made this course a
little extra challenging, but all the participants had a good time despite
several getting a little lost at times.
The next day was the 3 hour Score-O. There was a very good turn-out of both
veteran orienteers and new folks trying out the sport for the first time.
Several participants did very well, but Derrick Beracy blew everyone away by
being the only one to get all 25 controls with only 1 minute and 30 seconds
to spare. Good job, everyone, and thanks for coming out. Thanks especially
to Ron Birks and Gary Hickey for collecting bags afterwards. We really
appreciate all the help and support from folks to help us run these events.
