The weather was warm and breezy for the 2-hour Score-O that challenged participants at First Water on Sunday. Temperatures topped out around 90 degrees which resulted in some exhausted orienteers returning to the timing table. One rattlesnake was spotted on the course by Debra Allen, thankfully it let Debra walk around it (way around it, of course) without any issues.
Twenty three humans and a dog named Luna braved the heat and hills and were rewarded with some amazing views and a flowing stream on the east side of the course. Ron Birks ran his way to first place scoring 420 points. He was followed by Jeff Brucker with 330 and Ludwig Hill with 300. Gee Gee Larrington was first place in the women’s competition with 70 points.
The four Buckeyes led the way in the team competition with 290 points followed by Erik and Valerie with 210.
A big thanks to the control retrieval crew of Jeff, Ludwig, Gary, Todd and Gee Gee who helped make quick work of clearing the 21 controls.
