Early arrivers at the Big Alligator Juniper start area were a bit surprised by the 2 inches of snow that fell overnight, but were treated to some gorgeous views and excellent weather. Since the woods were so wet, we delayed the start of the adventure race to 9 AM to let things melt a bit, and switched the format to begin with the biking segment. By 10:30, you could hardly tell that it had snowed. We also switched the Score-O to have a 3-hour time limit, which allowed our two top finishers to visit all 30 controls.
Top finishers include Nakai Lake (1050 points, 2:16), Ron Birks (1050 points, 2:36), Erik Ringnes (1020 points, 2:57) and Avi Minski (960 points, 2:32).
Many thanks to our two course setters (Ron Birks and Glenn Haselfeld), and to assistance provided by Gary Hickey, Erik Ringnes and Nakai Lake for timing, registration and control retrieval.
