We had a nice turnout for our Saguaro Lake event. In past years, we've had the event in the early spring when the hillsides are filled with yellow and purple wildflowers. The landscape in early December isn't quite as pretty but it's still a great area for navigation practice. Derrick set a course that was just the right length with only one person clearing the course. The weather couldn't have been better with temperatures in the mid-70's and clouds keeping away the direct sunlight. Alison Crocker was the only competitor to visit all the controls. The rest of us could only watch as she bolted up a distant hillside. Four other participants were able to visit 15 or more controls. We had several participants from Flagstaff, Tucson, and Sedona. Thanks to Derrick for coming to the valley from his new home in Sedona. We really appreciate the extra effort. And thanks to everyone who joined us for our Saguaro Lake event.
