WriteupWe had a small but dedicated turnout for our sprints at Glendale Community College. It was the first time we've presented events on a college campus, so the new format may need some time to catch on. Sprint orienteering events are common in the U.S. and abroad (see here for results from the 2021 US National Sprint Orienteering Championships). We now have an event-tested map for GCC and we hope to add more events at area college campuses in the future. We look forward to getting larger turnouts in the future. We had a nice turnout for our beginner's clinic, and navigating on a college campus is an easy introduction to using a map and compass. Everyone that attended the clinic tried their hand at one of the sprint courses afterwards. We're happy we were able to offer our navigation events close to participants' homes in the Phoenix area. Thanks to everyone who joined us for our GCC navigation events. We hope to see you at another event soon. |
