On Feb. 24, 2024 we held a Sprints/Motala event and a beginner's clinic at Reach-11 Horse Lovers' Park in North Phoenix. We offered three sprints and a Motala, which requires participants to complete all three sprints. Sprint 1 was 1.2km, Sprint 2 was 1.4km and Sprint 3 was 3.7km. A small but strong group of orienteers attended. Andy Wentzel was fastest on all three sprints, and placed first on the Motala. Marcy Beard was 2nd-fastest on Sprints 1 and 2, and placed second in the Motala. John Beard was 2nd-fastest on Sprint 3 and was 3rd in the Motala, followed closely by Reid Axman, Charlie Shabazian and Dan Yamashiro. Honorable mention goes to the Isom brothers who brushed up on their skills in the clinic and then handled the long sprint easily. And also special mention to the three generations of the Randle family who completed all 6.3km of the Motala. We say "Well done!" to everyone. Thanks for joining us!
