Did waking up to light rain and low hanging clouds keep a few folks away? If so, they missed perfect running temperatures in a terrain full of challenges, and the sun did come out later in the morning. We had one person from Flagstaff, one that came down from Overgaard, and the usual locals. The one family that came out got to see a javelina and others spotted wild horses.
The event was a 2-hour score-O. Nobody got all controls, but Ron Birks got close. His and Glenn Haselfeld's routes are available on the results page, by clicking on their name. Forest blamed his penalty points on losing his control card. He went back to retrieve and couldn't make it back in time. We had one person from last spring's land nav class. Unfortunately, there is still some target practice along the blacktop, but the terrain northwest of the start is all safe and virgin. We'll be out there again next year. In the mean time see you at Saguaro Lake Dec 11th.
