Things were looking bleak as we drove to the event site in a steady drizzle. Luckily, by 9:00, the drizzle had ended. The day turned out to be perfect for orienteering, with a cloud cover to keep things from heating up and ground that was softened by the rain. It was a great day for our first event ever at Sophie's Flat.

The rain kept attendance low, but we had a good turnout of hardcore orienteers in spite of the weather. Team Europe did the best, visiting 13 control locations in under two hours. Jason Cram continued his steady improvement of orienteering skills by also visiting 13 controls. We had a fair amount of recreational participants in our event. We're happy to see a good number of new orienteers wanting to practice their skills without worrying about their score.

Thanks to all who showed up at our Sophie's Flat event. Our biggest satisfaction is seeing people enjoy the work we put into organizing an event. We look forward to seeing you out their again soon.
