Events

We have another day of navigation fun planned for our Sophie's Flat event site near Wickenburg. On Saturday, March 12, we're presenting a 1.5-hour and a 3-hour Score-O from the trailhead parking. Participants looking for a shorter day can try their luck navigating for 1.5 hours. Those looking for more navigation challenges can stay out for 3 hours. Both events use the same basemap. Sophie's Flat is an excellent example of high-desert vegetation nestled in the foothills of the Bradshaw Mountains. We hope you'll consider joining us for a great weekend of navigation fun.

The terrain is a mixture of rocky outcroppings and rolling hills with a medium level of desert vegetation. While the desert fauna in some areas is sparse and runnable, other areas have a higher concentration of prickly plants to navigate through. On almost all parts of the map, terrain visibility is excellent. Water is available at the timer's table, but we won't have water on the course. Please bring your own water bottle or camelback.

Pre-Registration and Fees

Due to BLM permit restrictions, pre-registration is required for this event. We will not provide on-site registration or extra maps, so make sure you pre-register.

Fees
Note: Each participant must pre-register separately. You're welcome to group together as a team onsite, but there is no team registration. An additional permit condition restricts us from charging a registration fee for the event. We greatly appreciate if you would make a donation to cover course setup and printing costs. You can make donations when you register using the link above.

Parental Consent:

All participants under age 18 are now required to have a signed parental consent form on file with the club. You can complete the form before the event and either scan it and send it to us by e-mail or bring it with you to the event.


What to Bring:

Whistle Mandatory for all.
Available for purchase for $1.00.
Compass Available for rent for $1.00.
Water bottles. We will not provide water on the course. We strongly encourage you to bring your own water bottles or a camelback.
Sunscreen There is little to no shade on the course.
Sturdy hiking shoes and long pants Recommended. You will encounter cactus, cat claw, and loose terrain.
