We hope you'll join us for another day of navigation fun on a new map in the forest north of Payson, AZ. On Saturday, September 16, we're offering a 2-hour Score-O starting from the Shadow Rim Girl Scout Camp. The Arizona Chapter of the Girl Scouts has been gracious enough to let us stage one of our orienteering events from their camp. We hope to partner with them for other events in the future. The Score-O is a timed event with participants traveling to as many destinations as possible within the two-hour time limit. The area around the trailhead offers minor climbs and dry water features to add to the navigation difficulty. The footing is mostly smooth and fast.
The mountain forest above 7000 feet around Payson offers a perfect place to get out of the Phoenix heat and enjoy the September temperatures in the mountains. There are plenty of areas of meadows and open pine forest to challenge your navigation skills. The views of the Mogollon Rim just north of the camp are spectacular. We hope you'll take some time from your busy schedules to join us and explore the area.
